When I first noticed these lamps, they seemed odd to me. I mean, who wants a lamp that’s a night light too. Then I recanted and realized that it made perfect sense to have at least one of these in the bedroom right next to the bed. You get the best of both world, a nice reading lamp and a soft light to guide the way if you have to make a late night trip. Having a night light running all night is not a solution, for me it would do nothing but keep me up no matter how soft the light is. Having to get up and stumbling around trying to find the light switch on the wall doesn’t make sense either and only wakes up your partner. Ultimately having one or two lamps like these is a pretty good idea. They’re very practical and they’ll fit in with most decors.

With most of these lamps having one 150 watt bulb in them and a 7 watt night light bulb you’ve got the best of both world going on. A great reading light and a night light. It’s the right combo. I guess what’s more surprising though is why most bedroom lamps don’t have this capability. Having a night light is makes it one heck of a lot easier to when you’ve got to get up too. Why stumble around a dark bedroom when you can reach over and turn on the night light?

So the big question is, “Will your life be better if you got a bedside lamp with a night light in it?” Well, since I’m the one usually getting up, I’m betting my wife will say that it’s definitely true.

I love this lamp. The style, frosted glass and etchings are beautiful. It was well padded in its packaging and arrived much sooner than I expected. The only thing keeping me from giving it a five star review is that the turnkey switch that controls the lamps function does not sit exactly where it belongs. As a result, the post rubs along the top of the cut-out and makes it a little bit harder to grasp and turn.

The Hurricane Table Lamp

A hurricane table lamp is really pretty open when it comes to style and design. In fact, you can find about anything you can think of.

Basically a lamp is considered to be a hurricane table lamp if it sits on a table (just kidding there. I’ve never seen a table lamp that doesn’t sit on a table. If you do, please let me know.) and it’s shade is basically a glass chimney like the ones below.

They all use those little candelabra bulbs in them but there are still plenty out there that use candles or oil. (I’ll have to make a note show you some of those.)

Any hurricane lamp can be a great accent piece and these beautiful lamps are proof of that.
