Is a hurricane lamp just a hurricane lamp or are they all different and what is a Gone With The Wind lamp?

Well, as you can see from the lamps in the rest of this article, it’s pretty safe to say that they come in just about every shape, color and size imaginable. The same goes for how they’re lit. Most lamps are lit by electric but you can still buy ones that work with oil, candles or kerosene. Hand-painted, etched glass or colored glass, crystal, a hurricane lamp is beauty to the eye of the beholder. Check out the lamp to the right. This lamp dates back to 1888. It tough to find reasonably priced antique hurricane lamps though but, if you do, you’ll be getting something that will more than likely increase in value as time goes on. Old antique hurricane lamps can truly be a work of art. [click to continue…]

I Have Found a Hurricane Lamp Candle Holder

by Gone With The Wind Lamp

I told you I’d find a hurricane lamp candle holder and here it is.

This is a european style and stands just under 48 inches tall. My wife loves candles and as soon as she saw this she decided she has to have it. It may not take too much arm twisting.

Candles always give a room a nice ambience and this one is no exception. I like that it isn’t cluttering up a table too. This has not been an easy item to find. Hurricane lamp candle holders don’t seem to be all that common.
